Green IT is defined as using computing resources efficiently. Consider your organization’s commitment to implementing Green IT hardware, software and processes. Rate each survey question on a scale of 0 to 2.

  1. Does your organization have purchasing practices that favor energy-efficient products? (e.g. EnergyStar and EPEAT)
  2. Have top executives (CEO, CFO, CIO) made an explicit commitment to energy efficiency?
  3. Has your organization implemented server virtualization to reduce the number of servers needed?
  4. Does your organization encourage telecommuting and provide the necessary equipment & support?
  5. Has your organization installed energy-efficient HVAC and building automation controls in the past 12 months?
  6. Has your organization revised its data center layout (or design) to reduce power demand?
  7. Does your organization use alternative energy supplies (e.g. solar, wind) to provide power to IT facilities or systems?
  8. Has your organization reduced IT equipment energy consumption by at least 5% in the past 12 months?
  9. Has your organization improved IT equipment energy efficiency by at least 5% in the past 12 months?
  10. Does your organization have a program to recycle unused/discarded high-tech equipment (e.g., old PCs and monitors)?
